Currently at Muse the Art Gallery (located along Upper Bt Timah Road where the old fire station used to be), there’s a photo exhibition called my4|-walls. From farm.sg
“This is a photo exhibition that seeks to tell stories. Through the lenses of 4 main photographers, the story of “my|4-walls” is told to the audience.
my|4-walls is the metaphor of the spaces (physical or otherwise) that provides us comfort and rest in the hustle and bustle of urban life. The metaphor is extended by giving each of the 4 photographers their own small spaces within the gallery to “curate”, hence allowing them to “own” their own 4-walls.”
It was a pleasant surprise to bump into Nicholas who came up with this brainchild, had him introduce some of the works and to hear how this went from conceptualization to the end-result (pretty neat work). Two of my favorites are Genevieve’s (great portrait shots, something which I find really hard to take) and Nicholas’s (I could resonate with his work) – not sure how true I am to the notion of “Support Local”, but this, I do :)
A lovely poem:
“unfamiliar familiarity
stranger in my own home
a stranger everywhere
a home anywhere”
(Click on each image for an enlarged view)
Check out these and more by the following photographers: Elaine Lim, Fusheng, Genevieve Ding, John Heng, Nicholas Foo and Wong Kin Leong.
Through 21st Feb, 2010.
Location: Muse the Art Gallery, 268 Upper Bt Timah Road, #03-09 (the old Bt Timah fire station)
